Deep beneath the Antarctic ice…
Mara and Chibi found a garden.
Flowers bloomed.
Birds sang.
Nothing felt frightening.
Only…
forgotten.
In the center stood a small birdcage.
Its door was open.
CHIBI:
“The bird escaped.”
Mara slowly shook her head.
MARA:
“Or…”
“…someone wanted it to.”
A bronze plaque rested beneath the cage.
The letters became readable as they watched.
MARA:
“Freedom cannot be given.”
She looked at Chibi.
MARA:
“It can only be discovered.”
Another line appeared.
CHIBI:
“A bird raised inside a cage…”
He swallowed.
CHIBI:
“…believes the sky ends at the bars.”
Silence.
The birds stopped singing.
A cold wind crossed the garden.
Neither child noticed the fresh footprints leading away from the cage.
Only one thing was certain.
Whatever had lived here…
was no longer inside.
🜍 THE PRICE OF CIVILIZATION
Perhaps the greatest prison…
is the one we never realize we’ve left.
If you remember what this felt like —
you already know what you’re missing.
Step back into it.
Or keep missing it.
