Delta Green MARA & CHIBI THEY DON’T KNOW

The Wiesn was roaring.

Music. Lights. Beer. Children on carousels. Thousands of people having an ordinary evening.

Mara noticed the man by the beer tent first.

He looked like he was waiting for someone.

Except he never watched the entrance.

He watched its reflection in the windows opposite.

Then she noticed the woman by the food stall. Phone to her ear. Not speaking.

And the third person who had been sitting beside the same untouched beer for forty minutes.

“Delta Green?”

“Probably.”

“Here?”

Chibi shrugged.

“Why not here?”

Mara stared at him.

“But everyone’s having a party.”

“Yeah.”

“That’s my point.”

“That’s their point too.”

A few minutes later, all three disappeared separately into the crowd.

Nothing happened.

No screams. No gunfire. No monster above the beer tents.

The band simply started another song.

Later, Chibi checked his phone.

“Are they okay?”

“Yeah.”

Mara watched a little girl circle past on a carousel while her mother waved.

“So nobody knows?”

“They’d better not.”

Mara thought about that.

“Maybe they’re not protecting the people.”

Chibi frowned.

“What else?”

She pointed at the lights, the music, the terrible singing, the carousel.

“This.”

Then, more quietly:

“The not knowing.”

AND WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Delta Green agents know the Unnatural is real. The people they protect usually don’t.

If keeping people safe also means protecting their ability to live without knowing what is really out there, is that ignorance itself something worth protecting — or do people have a right to know the truth?
