THE VIRTUES OF CHAOS ## Week III — Rising The Path to Glory

Four glasses stood on the table.

**Sean**

Khorne.

A warrior crosses a line.

He fights harder than he ever has before.

And wins.

Next time, crossing that line is easier.

**Eljara**

Because violence worked.

**Sean**

Because he was rewarded for it.

Eljara touched the second glass.

**Eljara**

Tzeentch.

A scholar opens the book they were told not to open.

And finds the answer.

A real answer.

**Sean**

So the next forbidden book?

**Eljara**

Isn’t quite so forbidden anymore.

The third glass.

**Sean**

Nurgle.

A doctor breaks protocol because the patient will die otherwise.

**Eljara**

And the patient lives.

**Sean**

Now tell that doctor the rules matter more than the next life they could save.

The fourth.

**Eljara**

Slaanesh.

You push beyond what everyone says is enough.

You train harder.

Change more.

Demand more.

And you become better.

**Sean**

So you push again.

**Eljara**

And again.

Sean looked at the four glasses.

**Sean**

That’s the bit people miss about the Path to Glory.

They look at the Chaos Warrior at the end.

The armour.

The mutations.

The trophies.

And ask…

*”Why would anyone choose that?”*

**Eljara**

Wrong end of the story.

Start with the first victory.

A boundary.

A victory.

A reward.

Another boundary.

Another victory.

Another reward.

**Sean**

Every time you cross the line…

something proves you right.

**Eljara**

Until you stop thinking:

*”That boundary was wrong.”*

And start thinking:

*”Boundaries are what keep people like me small.”*

Sean became quiet.

**Sean**

And when someone finally tells you to stop?

**Eljara**

What has your entire journey taught you about people who tell you that?

**Sean**

That they were wrong.

**Eljara**

Exactly.

So perhaps they’re afraid.

Perhaps they’re jealous.

Perhaps they simply can’t understand what you’ve become capable of.

And if they stand in your way…

**Sean**

Eventually they become the next boundary.

Four gods.

Four fires.

The same lesson.

Khorne rewards strength.

Tzeentch rewards discovery.

Nurgle rewards survival and growth.

Slaanesh rewards perfection.

Again.

Again.

Again.

**Sean**

That’s why Path to Glory is such a perfect name.

**Eljara**

We think it’s ironic.

**Sean**

Because we can see where the road ends.

He smiled.

**Sean**

But the person walking it?

Every step made them stronger.

Every broken taboo opened another possibility.

Every victory fed the fire.

Why would they call that damnation?

Eljara looked at the empty glasses.

**Eljara**

They wouldn’t.

**Sean**

No.

He raised the last glass.

**Sean**

They’d call it glorious.

Warhammer Fantasy, Warhammer 30,000 and Warhammer 40,000 make the Path to Glory monstrous enough for us to recognise.

But Chaos did not invent courage.

Curiosity.

The desire to live.

Or the desire to become better.

Those fires were already ours.

The danger begins when yesterday’s success becomes proof that tomorrow’s boundary must also be wrong.

**Being right yesterday does not mean you cannot be wrong tomorrow.**

But after enough victories…

it can certainly feel that way.
