Pulp Cthulhu · Spooky October · Month 10 · Week 4 · Mara & Chibi
MARA: “The boy outside the farmhouse window had disappeared.”
CHIBI: “But we could still hear him.”
MARA: “Three knocks against the glass. Then a fourth, from inside the kitchen.”
CHIBI: “And the clock started going backward!”
MARA: “Blue smoke appeared where two walls met.”
CHIBI: “Then something started coming out of the corner.”
MARA: “A creature with a body that refused to hold its shape. Limbs unfolding from directions that shouldn’t exist.”
CHIBI: “It was bigger than the kitchen table!”
MARA: “A Hound of Tindalos. Something connected to angles and to a terrifying reality beyond our ordinary experience of time.”
CHIBI: “Why couldn’t it just use the door?”
MARA: “Because it didn’t need one.”
CHIBI: “That is very unfair.”
MARA: “The walls cracked. The dishes shattered. Mrs. Whitmore was trapped.”
CHIBI: “So we threw things at it!”
MARA: “That didn’t work.”
CHIBI: “Then Mara had an idea.”
MARA: “The creature seemed to need sharp angles to enter. We began covering the corners with sacks and blankets.”
CHIBI: “And potatoes!”
MARA: “Especially potatoes.”
CHIBI: “Then we remembered the old round dairy room.”
MARA: “We couldn’t defeat the Hound. But perhaps we could keep it from reaching us.”
CHIBI: “And we got Mrs. Whitmore somewhere safe.”
MARA: “That was our victory. Not destroying the monster. Saving someone.”
CHIBI: “But the next morning, we found an old photograph.”
MARA: “Dated 1904. The same boy was standing outside the farmhouse.”
CHIBI: “And something was already watching from inside the window.”
MARA: “Perhaps the creature hadn’t arrived last night.”
CHIBI: “Perhaps it had been there all along.”
MARA: “In Pulp Cthulhu, courage doesn’t always mean winning a fight.”
CHIBI: “Sometimes it means saving your friends and running very fast.”
MARA: “So here is our question.”
CHIBI: “If a monster could reach you through the corners of your house, where would you hide?”
MARA: “And if you discovered a way to survive, would you tell the world?”
CHIBI: “I’d tell everyone!”
MARA: “Even if they didn’t believe you?”
CHIBI: “I’d show them the potatoes.”
MARA: “Discover the complete story at Mythveil Chronicles.”
