English — When Research Becomes an Invitation
STACY: Last week, we asked whether the old warnings were true.
CAELWYN: And discovered that some of them might keep you alive.
STACY: But what if the warning itself is dangerous?
CAELWYN: A cursed book?
STACY: Something worse. A book that tells you how to protect your family from demons.
CAELWYN: That doesn’t sound particularly dangerous.
STACY: Until you discover that someone changed the words.
CAELWYN: Changed them how?
STACY: The prayer you thought would keep a demon away actually summons one.
CAELWYN: So you find the book, follow its instructions, and something answers.
STACY: Which proves that the words have power.
CAELWYN: But not that the book told you the truth.
STACY: Exactly. And the World of Darkness has another problem. Some grimoires contain imprisoned entities that can answer questions.
CAELWYN: Useful. Until the thing inside decides to lie.
STACY: Or tells you the truth while carefully leaving out the part that gets you killed.
CAELWYN: There’s something rather unpleasant about a book that knows more than it tells you.
STACY: Especially when using it might reveal something about you.
CAELWYN: So you’re reading the book…
STACY: …and something may be learning about its reader.
CAELWYN: Then perhaps the most dangerous moment isn’t when you open it.
STACY: It’s when you realise the book wanted to be opened.

CAELWYN: Ein verfluchtes Buch?
STACY: Schlimmer.
STACY: Genau. Und in der World of Darkness gibt es noch etwas: Grimoires, in denen Wesen gefangen sind, die Fragen beantworten können.
CAELWYN: Praktisch.
CAELWYN: Du liest also das Buch …

STACY: Esatto. E nel World of Darkness esistono anche grimori che custodiscono entità imprigionate, capaci di rispondere alle domande.
CAELWYN: Comodo.

CAELWYN: No parece precisamente peligroso.
