The garden was almost gone.
The flowers had withered.
The birds had flown.
Only the little bronze birdcage remained.
Its door…
was still open.
CHIBI:
“They forgot to close it.”
Mara gently smiled.
MARA:
“No.”
She rested her hand on the weathered bronze.
MARA:
“They chose not to.”
The plaque beneath the cage slowly became readable.
CHIBI:
“It says…”
He paused.
CHIBI:
“‘The cage was never built…’”
Mara finished the sentence.
MARA:
“…to keep life inside.”
Another line appeared.
MARA:
“‘It was built…’”
She looked toward the path leading back to the surface.
MARA:
“…to teach it when to leave.”
A warm breeze crossed the silent garden.
The cage door moved gently.
No bird flew out.
It already had.
CHIBI:
“So… this is the end?”
Mara quietly shook her head.
MARA:
“No.”
She smiled toward the light above.
MARA:
“It’s our turn.”
🜍 THE PRICE OF CIVILIZATION
Freedom is not escaping the cage.
It’s choosing…
what you will protect once you leave it.
If you remember what this felt like —
you already know what you’re missing.
Step back into it.
Or keep missing it.
