The museum celebrated the discovery.
The expedition had changed history.
Or so they believed.
DIRECTOR:
“We’ll preserve everything.”
Sean looked at the endless rows of display cases.
SEAN:
“Will you?”
The director proudly lifted one of the crystal cylinders.
DIRECTOR:
“Future generations will see this.”
Eljara quietly shook her head.
ELJARA:
“They’ll see the object.”
She looked around the silent gallery.
ELJARA:
“Not the responsibility.”
A scientist entered carrying a translated fragment from the vault.
His voice was barely above a whisper.
SCIENTIST:
“It wasn’t a catalogue.”
The director frowned.
DIRECTOR:
“Then what was it?”
The scientist looked at the page.
SCIENTIST:
“A maintenance log.”
Silence.
Sean slowly turned toward the empty crystal cylinder.
Its inscription read:
HOMO SAPIENS
He spoke so quietly that only Eljara heard him.
SEAN:
“Perhaps…”
“…every civilization believes it’s writing history.”
He looked at the endless museum halls.
SEAN:
“When all it’s really doing…”
“…is standing the next watch.”
🜍 THE PRICE OF CIVILIZATION
A museum preserves the past.
A guardian…
preserves the future.
If you remember what this felt like —
you already know what you’re missing.
Step back into it.
Or keep missing it.
