Sean and Eljara stand inside a torchlit tomb while explorers open a sealed chamber behind them.

The ancient tomb had finally been opened.

Gold glittered in the torchlight.

The treasure hunters cheered.

Eljara:
“They found exactly what they came for.”

Sean:
“Did they?”

She looked at the overflowing chests.

Eljara:
“Gold.”

Sean:
“Yes.”

Eljara:
“Jewels.”

Sean:
“Yes.”

Eljara:
“History.”

Sean slowly shook his head.

Sean:
“No.”

Silence.

He knelt beside a shattered stone sarcophagus.

Broken carvings lay scattered across the floor.

Sean:
“They found treasure.”

A pause.

Sean:
“They destroyed history.”

The workers loaded statues and golden masks onto wagons.

Broken pottery.

Fragments of inscriptions.

Pieces of carved stone.

They were left behind.

Eljara:
“They can’t save everything.”

Sean:
“No.”

Eljara:
“So they chose what mattered most.”

Sean nodded quietly.

Sean:
“They chose what was worth money.”

Farther inside the tomb stood a second bronze door.

Covered in faded warnings.

Almost every word had disappeared.

Only one sentence remained.

DO NOT DISTURB THE SLEEP OF—

The final name had been erased by time.

Eljara:
“The warning is incomplete.”

Sean:
“Yes.”

Eljara:
“So it means nothing.”

Sean looked at the broken inscription.

Sean:
“Or…”

A pause.

Sean:
“…it means we forgot the most important part.”

The treasure hunters raised heavy hammers.

Treasure Hunter:
“If they sealed it…”

He smiled.

Treasure Hunter:
“…there must be something priceless inside.”

Bronze echoed through the chamber.

The ancient seal began to crack.

Eljara:
“So this is greed.”

Sean slowly shook his head.

Sean:
“No.”

Eljara:
“No?”

He watched the darkness beyond the opening door.

Sean:
“Greed carried away the gold.”

A long silence.

Sean:
“Hubris broke the seal.”

The chamber breathed for the first time in thousands of years.

Cold air rolled across the floor.

Sean:
“The dead rarely fear the living.”

Another silence.

Sean:
“It is the living…”

He looked into the darkness.

Sean:
“…who should fear forgetting why the dead were left undisturbed.”

🏺 Month 7 — The Price of Progress

⚖️ Week 3 — The Empty Tomb

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4th Edition

Not every sealed tomb hides treasure.

Some hide warnings.

The greatest mistake is believing our ancestors buried only what they valued…

…instead of what they feared.

If you remember what this felt like—
you already know what you’re missing.

Step back into it.

Or keep missing it.
