Eljara:
When I was younger…
A pause.
Eljara:
…I thought freedom meant nobody could tell me what to do.
Sean smiled.
Sean:
Most people do.
Another pause.
Sean:
So did Horus.
Silence.
Eljara:
Then why do so many revolutions end in blood?
Sean looked across the endless hive city.
Sean:
Because people confuse freedom…
A pause.
Sean:
…with the absence of limits.
The city continued below them.
Protected.
Ordered.
Imperfect.
Alive.
Eljara:
Every faction thinks someone else is wearing chains.
Sean:
Exactly.
Sean:
The Imperium.
Chaos.
The T’au.
The Aeldari.
Another pause.
Sean:
Every one of them believes they’re offering liberation.
Silence.
Eljara:
So where does Chaos begin?
Sean answered almost immediately.
Sean:
Not when you break a chain.
A pause.
Sean:
When you decide every chain deserves to be broken.
The words lingered.
Heavy.
Sean:
Because eventually…
Another pause.
Sean:
…the rebellion forgets what it wanted to protect.
Silence.
Sean:
It only remembers what it wants to destroy.
Far below—
billions continued living beneath the Imperium.
Some dreamed of freedom.
Some prayed for order.
Most simply hoped to survive another day.
Sean looked toward the stars.
Then quietly asked:
Sean:
When you finally break your last chain…
A long silence.
Sean:
…what will still be holding you together?
