The stone is gone.
“It was here,” Stacy says.
Caelwyn looks at the shoreline.
“No.”
“We stood right here.”
“Yes.”
“There was a carving.”
“No.”
Silence.
“You saw it.”
“No.”
“You described it.”
“No.”
She steps closer.
“That’s not possible.”
“It is.”
The wind moves softly.
The sand is smooth.
No marks.
No traces.
“We followed the lines,” she says.
“No.”
“You said they were learning.”
“No.”
A pause.
“The inlet,” she says.
“What about it?”
“It wasn’t on the map.”
“Yes, it was.”
“No.”
“Yes.”
Silence.
“We argued about it.”
“No.”
“I remember that.”
“You’re remembering something that didn’t happen.”
The words settle.
Heavy.
Stacy opens her notebook.
Filled with sketches.
Lines.
Patterns.
“You wrote this with me.”
Caelwyn looks.
“That’s your handwriting.”
“Yes.”
“Not mine.”
Silence.
“If I’m wrong,” she says,
“then where did this come from?”
“You made it.”
The world stays still.
Normal.
Correct.
Unchanged.
“I remember it,” she says.
“I know.”
A pause.
“Then which of us is wrong?”
Caelwyn looks out at the water.
“I don’t know.”
The tide moves forward.
Like it always has.
🜍 TRICKSTER — Week 4
The world doesn’t need to change.
It only needs to agree.
And when it does—
your memory stops mattering.
If you remember what this felt like —
you already know what you’re missing.
Step back into it.
Or keep missing it.
