WHEN THE GAME ANSWERS BACK Delta Green — Mythveil Chronicles Week 1 · Mara & Chibi

“Again.”

Chibi flips the coin.

Catches it.

Doesn’t show.

“Pick.”

Mara leans forward.

“Heads.”

He opens his hand.

Tails.

She smiles.

“Okay… again.”

He flips.

This time she answers faster.

“Heads.”

He opens his hand.

Heads.

She pauses.

“That one felt weird.”

Chibi tilts his head.

“How?”

“I didn’t think.”

“That’s new.”

She frowns.

“That’s not how the game works.”

He shrugs.

“Maybe.”

Another flip.

She watches closely.

The movement.

The catch.

The moment before the answer.

Something feels…

too short.

“Heads,” she says.

Correct.

She doesn’t smile.

“You’re doing something.”

“I’m flipping a coin.”

“No, like—”

She stops.

“That’s not what I meant.”

The words come out too fast.

Chibi watches her.

Carefully.

“You said it.”

“I didn’t want to.”

“But you did.”

Mara looks down at her hands.

“That felt wrong.”

“Yeah.”

Another flip.

This time she waits.

Longer.

Too long.

“…tails.”

Correct.

She looks up.

“That’s better.”

Chibi shakes his head slightly.

“No.”

“Why not?”

“You waited.”

“That’s how guessing works.”

He leans forward a little.

“You’re not guessing.”

She blinks.

“Then what am I doing?”

He doesn’t answer.

Instead he flips again.

She doesn’t say anything.

The moment stretches.

Like something is missing.

“Pick,” he says.

“I am.”

“No.”

He watches her.

“You’re waiting for it.”

Mara feels it then.

That small thing.

Not a thought.

Not a voice.

Just…

a push.

Like the answer is already there.

“…heads,” she whispers.

Correct.

She pulls back slightly.

“That’s not fun.”

“Yeah.”

“Why?”

Chibi looks at the coin.

Then at her.

“Because we’re not playing anymore.”

Silence.

Mara hugs her knees.

“Then what is it?”

Chibi shrugs.

“Something else is faster.”

She doesn’t like that.

“What do you mean?”

He flips the coin again.

Lets it fall this time.

It spins on the floor.

Neither of them looks at it.

“Usually,” he says quietly,

“you pick first.”

Mara nods.

“Yeah.”

He watches the coin slow down.

“Now it doesn’t wait.”

The coin stops.

They still don’t look.

Mara whispers:

“That’s cheating.”

Chibi nods.

“Yeah.”

A pause.

“Who’s cheating?”

Chibi smiles faintly.

“I don’t think it’s trying to.”

Mara looks at the coin again.

For a moment—

she feels it.

That same small thing.

Like the answer is already decided.

Even when no one asks.

“Can we play something else?” she asks quietly.

“Sure.”

But neither of them moves.

Because now they both know—

it doesn’t matter what game they choose.

Something is already answering.

🎲 PLAY EPIC. FEEL THE STORY.

Game: Delta Green
Campaign: Mythveil Chronicles
Theme: April · Trickster · When Games Stop Waiting

Sometimes it starts as play.

A small shift.

A faster answer.

A moment you don’t question.

Until you do.

And then it’s already too late to tell

if you chose it—

or if it chose for you.
