🜍 BIRTH — WEEK 4 Pulp Cthulhu The Price That Was Always There

Stacy:
“They’re not afraid.”
Caelwyn:
“No.”
Stacy:
“They’re not forcing it.”
Caelwyn:
“No.”
A pause.
Stacy looks down into the clearing.
“They’re continuing it.”
Caelwyn nods.
“Yes.”
Below—
a man steps forward.
Not pushed.
Not dragged.
Walking.
Stacy watches closely.
“He knows.”
“Yes.”
“That shouldn’t make it easier.”
“It doesn’t.”
The man kneels.
The others step back.
Distance.
Space.
Pattern.
Stacy exhales slowly.
“That’s not belief.”
“No.”
“That’s repetition.”
“Yes.”
A pause.
Stacy speaks again.
“Greece.”
“Persephone.”
Caelwyn’s voice is quiet.
“She goes below… so something returns above.”
“Yes.”
Stacy nods slightly.
“Celtic.”
“The Green Man.”
“Growth.”
A breath.
“And before that…”
Caelwyn finishes it.
“He dies.”
Silence.
Stacy continues.
“Christianity.”
“The cross.”
A pause.
“No death…”
Caelwyn:
“No return.”
The blade moves below.
Neither of them looks away.
Stacy’s voice lowers.
“That’s not culture.”
“No.”
“That’s not religion.”
“No.”
She swallows.
“That’s structure.”
Caelwyn nods.
“Yes.”
A long pause.
“They think they’re doing it,” Stacy says.
Caelwyn exhales.
“No.”
“They’re part of it.”
The jungle breathes.
Unchanged.
