Chibi: They don’t look like soldiers.
Mara: They aren’t.
Chibi: They stand the same way.
A pause.
Across the market, a vendor arranges eggs marked with careful red spirals.
Chibi: That shape again.
Mara: Yes.
Chibi crouches near a flower bed where green shoots push through cracked stone.
Chibi: It grows back fast.
Mara: Especially where it was broken.
He looks up at her.
Chibi: So it’s over?
Mara: The shouting is.
Chibi: And the rest?
Mara watches the officials walk away with their leather case.
Mara: The rest is quieter.
A bell rings overhead.
The market laughs. Children run.
Chibi: Does quiet mean safe?
Mara: It means stable.
Chibi: That’s not the same.
She doesn’t argue.
Spring light settles across repaired walls and fresh paint.
