Devices humming in low, steady tones.

Procedure.

Sean: They’ve done this before.

A man adjusted a dial.

The sound shifted.

The wall responded.

A slow contraction.

Then stillness.

Sean: That’s not containment.

Eljara: No.

Sean: That’s control.

Eljara watched the cables across the floor.

They weren’t random.

They followed a shape.

Curved.

Branching.

Familiar.

Eljara: That’s the same pattern.

Sean: Yes.

Eljara: They’re not forcing it.

Sean: No.

Eljara: They’re matching it.

The hum stabilized.

The movement behind the wall didn’t stop.

It settled.

Balanced.

A man stepped toward them.

Man: It’s under control.

Sean looked at the wall.

Then back at him.

Sean: No.

A pause.

Sean: It’s being maintained.

The man didn’t argue.

Because he knew.

Another adjustment.

The sound deepened.

The wall held.

The structure aligned.

Eljara: This isn’t an emergency.

Sean: No.

Eljara: It’s routine.

Sean glanced back one last time.

Sean: That’s what should worry you.

They turned toward the stairs.

Behind them, the hum continued.
