Chibi doesn’t move through the house.
He darts.
Stops.
Listens.
A whisper cut short.
A door closed too fast.
A package hidden badly.
Outside, the night pretends to be calm.
Inside, everyone is lying —
nicely.
The house is too quiet
in all the wrong places.
Mara slows down first.
She feels it.
She always does.
Sean pretends not to notice.
Which means he noticed everything.
Eljara keeps things moving —
because stillness would give it away.
Stacy checks the time.
Again.
And again.
Chibi grins.
Not because it’s funny.
Because it’s obvious.
Tomorrow is too big
to arrive quietly.
This is not mischief.
This is not impatience.
This is anticipation
with nowhere to go.
The adults think they’re holding it together.
The house thinks otherwise.
Some of us prepare.
Some of us guard.
Some of us pretend.
Chibi waits.
If you’re restless tonight —
if sleep feels optional
and thoughts keep jumping ahead —
you’re not wrong.
And if not,
stay awake with us a little longer.
Tomorrow is almost here.
And almost
is the loudest part.
