❓ When warmth is offered… do you question why?
December 16th does not sparkle.
It does not announce itself.
It waits.
Eljara does not check the clock today.
She doesn’t need to.
She sets the cup down anyway.
Warm milk.
Honey stirred until it disappears.
A trace of nutmeg — not enough to impress, just enough to stay.
“This isn’t comfort,” she says.
“It’s consent.”
Consent to sit.
To stop explaining.
To exist without performing gratitude.
Historically, this is the season when people mistake endurance for strength.
When they praise those who keep going
and forget those who are simply still here.
Eljara wraps both hands around the cup.
“Warmth isn’t a reward,” she says.
“It’s infrastructure.”
December 16th is not celebration.
It is shelter.
And shelter decides
who survives the long night
without having to prove they deserve it.
❓ Who would you offer a cup to — without asking for a story first?
