DON’T GO OUT AFTER DARK

Caelwyn and Stacy inspect an ancient village well at sunset on the edge of Andaluria.

Andaluria: Blood & Desire · October · Week 1 — The Rules We Remember

CAELWYN:

“Don’t go past the old well after sunset.”

STACY:

“Why?”

CAELWYN:

“Because my grandmother said so.”

STACY:

“That is not evidence.”

CAELWYN:

“It kept me away from the well.”

STACY:

“…annoyingly, that is evidence of something.”

Some rules survive longer than their explanations.

Don’t take that road at night.
Stay away from the ruins.
Close the shutters before dark.
Don’t answer when something outside calls your name.

We call them superstitions now.

But folklore across Iberia is full of boundaries: between village and wilderness, house and night, road and crossroads, the human world and places where something else might have a claim.

Islamic traditions preserve their own, very different understanding of the unseen. Jinn are not simply ghosts or demons with another name. Yet here too, inherited practices can govern where people go, when they go there, and how they behave around places associated with unseen beings.

The details differ.

The human habit does not.

We teach rules before children are old enough to understand the danger behind them.

STACY:

“Which doesn’t make every old rule true.”

CAELWYN:

“No.”

STACY:

“Some are mistakes. Some are social control. Some explain ordinary dangers through supernatural stories.”

CAELWYN:

“And some?”

STACY:

“You’re enjoying this.”

CAELWYN:

“Immensely.”

Because Andaluria changes the question.

Here, monsters really do walk after dark.

So imagine twelve rules passed down in a village for generations.

Nine are nonsense.

Two protected people from dangers that disappeared long ago.

One still keeps something outside.

Nobody remembers which one.

The old woman who knew dies. Her daughter remembers the rule but not the reason. Her granddaughter laughs at it.

One evening, somebody finally asks:

“Why shouldn’t I?”

And nothing happens.

So next year they ignore it again.

Eventually, nobody teaches the rule at all.

Perhaps that is what the thing outside has been waiting for.

CAELWYN:

“We shouldn’t believe something simply because Grandma said it.”

STACY:

“Definitely not.”

CAELWYN:

“But perhaps we should ask her why while she’s still here.”

Some traditions deserve to disappear.

Others may be memories of consequences.

And in a world where the monsters are real, forgetting can be far more dangerous than believing.

What if the warning survived because the danger did?

WORLDS THAT REMEMBER

At Mythveil Chronicles, the world remembers what people learn — and what they forget. Old warnings can outlive the people who understood them. Traditions can change. Protections can fail. And when characters decide that an ancient rule no longer matters, the world is free to prove them right.

Or wrong.

Real TTRPG. Real story. Real choices. Real consequences.
A living world that moves on — with or without you.
