Medicae Venn has been awake for thirty-one hours.
People are dying.
So she stays.
One more patient.
One more hour.
One more life.
That sounds nothing like Chaos.
And perhaps that is why it is dangerous.
Nurgle does not only live in the desire to make life consume everything around it.
Sometimes the healer keeps giving until the last life available to consume is their own.
Khorne has another path.
A soldier learns never to show anger.
Obey.
Endure.
Control yourself.
But aggression does not necessarily disappear because it has nowhere to go.
The battlefield can turn inward.
Tzeentch can do the same.
Question everything long enough and eventually there may be only one mystery left to investigate:
Yourself.
Was that memory real?
Was that thought yours?
Can you trust your own mind?
And Slaanesh?
Become better.
Again.
Again.
Until praise cannot reach you.
Love cannot convince you.
Rest feels like failure.
Nothing outside the fire is enough anymore.
So the fire finds something closer to burn.
Your body.
Your confidence.
Your health.
Your identity.
The problem was never that you cared too much.
Fight.
Question.
Heal.
Create.
Become.
The fire should burn.
But a living fire does more than give.
It must also be able to receive.
Rest.
Care.
Love.
Criticism.
Help.
Someone telling you that you are already worth something before the next victory, answer, patient or masterpiece.
Because love cannot mean that everyone has value except you.
Sacrifice may be an act of love.
Believing you are the only person who may always be sacrificed is something else.
So when your fire can no longer accept anything from the people around it — what part of yourself will you feed it next?
