The path is narrow.
Too narrow.
Too clean.
Sean stops.
“This wasn’t here before.”
Eljara looks down.
“No.”
A pause.
“But someone used it.”
The wind moves through the reeds.
“Sean.”
He doesn’t react.
“Keep moving.”
Same voice.
He knows it.
Eljara watches him.
“You heard that.”
“Yes.”
“Whose voice?”
A pause.
“My brother.”
Silence.
“Alive?” she asks.
“No.”
The path curves.
Too smooth.
“Left,” the voice says.
Sean slows.
“What did it say?” Eljara asks.
“Nothing useful.”
“Sean.”
Softer now.
“You’re close.”
He stops.
“That one matters,” Eljara says.
“Yes.”
They walk again.
The ground softens.
Damp.
Wrong.
Eljara crouches.
“This shouldn’t be here.”
Sean keeps moving.
“Sean.”
Closer now.
“Just a little further.”
He walks faster.
“You’re speeding up,” she says.
“I know.”
“Why?”
A pause.
“Because it sounds right.”
The wind dies.
Then—
“Eljara.”
She freezes.
Sean turns.
“You heard that.”
“Yes.”
“Same voice?”
“No.”
“What did it say?”
She hesitates.
“It told me you were already gone.”
Silence.
The path splits.
Two directions.
Both clear.
Both inviting.
“Follow me,” his voice says.
“Turn back,” hers answers.
Neither moves.
Sean exhales slowly.
“It’s not guiding us.”
Eljara nods.
“No.”
“It’s dividing us.”
The wind returns.
The paths remain.
Both possible.
Both wrong.
🜍 TRICKSTER — Week 2
It doesn’t lead you away.
It leads you apart.
And that is how
it works.
If you remember what this felt like —
you already know what you’re missing.
Step back into it.
Or keep missing it.
