Mara draws the circle.
“Treasure,” she says.
Chibi nods.
“Traps?”
She draws two lines.
“Here.”
“And here.”
“Mara.”
She stops.
Slowly looks up.
Chibi is still in front of her.
He didn’t speak.
“You heard that,” she says.
“Yes.”
“Was that you?”
“No.”
Silence.
“Mara.”
Closer now.
Behind her.
She turns.
Nothing there.
“That sounded like you,” Chibi says.
Mara nods slowly.
“It sounded like me to me.”
A pause.
“That’s wrong.”
“Yes.”
The sand shifts slightly.
But the lines stay.
Too clean.
Too perfect.
“Don’t draw that,” the voice says.
Mara looks down.
At the circle.
“Why?” she whispers.
No answer.
Then—
“Chibi.”
He freezes.
Mara looks at him.
“You heard that.”
“Yes.”
“Same voice?”
“No.”
“What did it say?”
A pause.
“It said you’re doing it wrong.”
Mara frowns.
“That’s not what it told me.”
Silence.
The game sits between them.
Unfinished.
Uncertain.
“Fix it,” the voice says.
Mara’s hand moves slightly.
The line shifts.
Cleaner.
Better.
Wrong.
“Did you do that?” Chibi asks.
“No.”
“But it changed.”
“Yes.”
The path leads straight to the circle now.
No traps.
No choices.
“That’s not the game,” Mara says.
“No.”
“That’s not how it works.”
“No.”
“Mara.”
Soft now.
“You’re getting better.”
She drops the stick.
“No.”
Chibi leans closer.
“It sounds like you,” he says.
Mara shakes her head.
“It’s not me.”
A pause.
“Then what is it?” he asks.
Mara looks at the drawing.
Perfect.
Finished.
Wrong.
“It’s trying to be me,” she says.
Silence.
The wind returns.
But the game remains.
Better than before.
Without them.
🜍 TRICKSTER — WEEK 2
It doesn’t just copy voices.
It learns them.
And sometimes
it almost gets them right.
If you remember what this felt like —
you already know what you’re missing.
Step back into it.
Or keep missing it.
