**Pulp Cthulhu Noir April — Redundancy**

Caelwyn: We were not necessary.
Stacy: No.
The second report lies open beside their own.
Same timestamps.
Different entrance.
Different insignia.
Caelwyn: They breached at 21:09.
Stacy: We breached at 21:12.
Caelwyn: They secured the perimeter.
Stacy: We secured the circle.
Caelwyn studies both timelines.
Caelwyn: Identical outcomes.
Stacy: Independent execution.
A pause.
Caelwyn: So if we hadn’t gone—
Stacy: The ritual would still have been contained.
Caelwyn: And the railway transfer?
Stacy: Would still have proceeded.
Silence settles like dust.
Caelwyn: The anonymous call wasn’t for us.
Stacy: It was for anyone predictable.
He exhales slowly.
Caelwyn: We thought we were intervention.
Stacy: You were.
Caelwyn: No.
Stacy: You were stabilization.
He looks at the two parallel reports.
Caelwyn: The Trickster multiplies responders.
Stacy: Redundancy ensures continuity.
Caelwyn: We were one of several expected outcomes.
Stacy: Yes.
Caelwyn: That’s escalation.
Stacy: Optimization.
Outside, a tram passes cleanly through the night.
No distortion.
No drama.
Caelwyn: They didn’t mislead us.
Stacy: No.
Caelwyn: They accounted for us.
Stacy: Precisely.
Another pause.
Caelwyn: So next time—
Stacy: —deciding not to act may be the only disruption.
Caelwyn studies the railway circle on the map.
Caelwyn: That’s dangerous.
Stacy: So is believing you matter uniquely.
Silence.
Two teams.
Two correct responses.
One uninterrupted transfer.
April doesn’t confuse anymore.
It calibrates.
