Stacy:
“Nothing breaks anymore.”

Caelwyn:
“Nothing stops anymore.”

Stacy:
“Is that not the same?”

Caelwyn:
“No.”

Stacy:
“Then explain the difference.”

Caelwyn:
“Breaking means something failed.”

“Stopping means something chose to.”

Stacy:
“And you think choice is gone?”

Caelwyn:
“I think it isn’t needed anymore.”

Stacy:
“I observed the square.”

Caelwyn:
“I know.”

Stacy:
“No hesitation.”
“No correction.”
“No resistance.”

Caelwyn:
“Yes.”

Stacy:
“That implies stability.”

Caelwyn:
“That implies surrender.”

Stacy:
“To what?”

Caelwyn:
“To whatever no longer needs permission.”

Stacy:
“The priest said it was order.”

Caelwyn:
“He would.”

Stacy:
“And they believed him.”

Caelwyn:
“They didn’t need to believe.”

Stacy:
“No?”

Caelwyn:
“They already acted as if it were true.”

Stacy:
“So the words came after.”

Caelwyn:
“They always do.”

Stacy:
“Then nothing changed.”

Caelwyn:
“The question disappeared.”

Stacy:
“That is a change.”

Caelwyn:
“That is the change.”

(Silence)

Stacy:
“If no one asks…”

Caelwyn:
“…nothing refuses.”

Stacy:
“And if nothing refuses…”

Caelwyn:
“…everything continues.”

Stacy:
“That sounds like growth.”

Caelwyn:
“It is.”

Stacy:
“Then why does it feel wrong?”

Caelwyn:
“Because growth used to have limits.”

Stacy:
“And now?”

Caelwyn:
“Now it has direction.”

Stacy:
“Given by whom?”

Caelwyn:
“That is the part no one asks anymore.”

(Silence. Voices in the background. No interruption.)

Stacy:
“If it works…”

Caelwyn:
“…it doesn’t mean it’s right.”

Stacy:
“Then what is right?”

Caelwyn:
“Something that can still be stopped.”

(Silence)

Stacy:
“…Can this be stopped?”

(Pause)

Caelwyn:
“No.”

(Silence)

Stacy:
“Then it will spread.”

Caelwyn:
“Yes.”

Stacy:
“And no one will resist it.”

Caelwyn:
“No.”

(Silence)

Stacy:
“…Then what remains?”

(Pause)

Caelwyn:
“The moment before someone stops asking.”

(Silence)
