🜍 Mara & Chibi Present — “THE CTHULHU CHRISTMAS BOX”

(Witch Girls Magical Minutia — Advent Edition)
ENGLISH VERSION

Mara sits on the cold stone steps outside a Salzburg alley,
her winter coat wrapped tight,
her glow faint but stubborn.

Chibi arrives
carrying a giant cardboard box
covered in postage stamps from places
that absolutely should not exist.

Chibi (thrilled way too early in the morning):
“Mara… you HAVE to see what the Miskatonic folks sent us!”

The box shifts.
Actually moves.
Something inside it knocks —
once, politely,
as if asking permission to come out.

Mara:
“Chibi… did you order something alive again?”

He tears the tape.
Warm, stale air rolls out:
dust, ink, saltwater,
and the faint metallic scent of old typewriters typing by themselves.

Inside the box are books.
Lots of books.
But each one is wrong in its own special way.

A lighthouse sketch that keeps changing the position of the door.
A theater pamphlet whose smiling actors blink at you.
A cave map that drips water…
despite being printed on dry paper.

Mara whispers:
“Ch-Chibi… why is the cave tour brochure wet?”

Chibi beams proudly:
“Mara… this is the Miskatonic Repository Christmas Collection.
It’s like… an advent calendar!
But every window you open screams a little.”

One booklet vibrates.
Another exhales.
One simply says RUN in handwriting that wasn’t there seconds ago.

And then Mara sees the last book.

A slim volume,
bound in red cloth,
stitched shut with something that looks disturbingly like hair.

It pulses.

Mara:
“Ch-Chibi… it’s moving.”

Chibi (delighted):
“That one’s from Mammoth Cave!
Or… whatever’s left of it.”

The box quivers again.

Something inside knocks.
Twice.
Not politely this time.

Mara grabs Chibi’s sleeve.
“Put. The lid. Back. On.”

A third knock —
deep, hollow, patient —
comes from a book that should not have enough space for anything to knock.

Chibi closes the box
slowly.
Very slowly.

Chibi (whispering):
“Mara…
let’s… maybe not open the rest today.”

The box knocks again.

Harder.
