THE FIRE WE NEVER LOST Inner Fire — Week 3 Caelwyn & Stacy

Caelwyn:
“Please tell me the CIA didn’t spend decades investigating psychics.”

Stacy:
“Technically, several American intelligence and military organisations investigated remote viewing.”

Caelwyn:
“That isn’t better.”

Stacy:
“No.”

He stared at the declassified file.

Caelwyn:
“And they found nothing?”

Stacy hesitated.

Stacy:
“That’s where it gets interesting.”

Some experiments produced statistical effects.

One evaluator argued they supported psychic functioning.

Another disputed that conclusion.

And operationally?

Remote viewing proved too unreliable to be useful intelligence.

Caelwyn:
“So it worked?”

Stacy:
“No.”

Caelwyn:
“So it didn’t?”

Stacy:
“I didn’t say that either.”

Caelwyn:
“You scientists are bloody infuriating.”

Stacy:
“It’s called not claiming more than the evidence allows.”

She pushed another file towards him.

In one declassified session, the target coordinates were wrong.

They were meant to indicate an American airbase.

Instead, they pointed towards an area near Pisgah, Iowa.

The viewer reportedly described features corresponding not to the intended airbase—

but to the place indicated by the incorrect coordinates.

Caelwyn read the page again.

Caelwyn:
“He described the wrong place because they gave him the wrong coordinates?”

Stacy:
“According to the report.”

Caelwyn:
“And we can actually read this?”

Stacy:
“Declassified.”

A long silence.

Caelwyn:
“What the hell?”

Stacy smiled.

Stacy:
“Exactly.”

Not proof.

Not magic.

Not an answer.

Just one of those uncomfortable pieces of history that refuses to fit neatly into either box.

Perhaps that’s the real problem.

We like reality properly labelled.

Possible. Impossible. Science. Belief.

Reality has never shown much interest in our filing system.

AND WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE?

A government programme is not proof of the paranormal.

A strange result isn’t proof either.

But when something refuses to produce a simple answer, should we dismiss it — or keep asking questions?

Tell us what you think in the comments.

Sceptical? Spiritual? Somewhere awkwardly in between? Good.

Disagreement is welcome.

Spam, trolling and personal attacks aren’t.

Bring evidence. Bring questions. Bring your own interpretation.

And leave enough room for somebody who reads the same file and reaches a different conclusion.
