The ceremony had ended.
No one applauded.
No one argued.
The villagers simply returned to their work.
Sean watched them leave.
SEAN:
“They act as though nothing unusual happened.”
An old houngan smiled.
HOUNGAN:
“To us…”
“…nothing unusual did.”
Sean looked toward the clearing.
SEAN:
“A woman spoke with another voice.”
The old priest nodded.
HOUNGAN:
“Perhaps.”
Sean frowned.
SEAN:
“You don’t sound certain.”
The old man picked up a handful of sand.
The wind slowly carried it away.
HOUNGAN:
“I am certain that something happened.”
He opened his empty hand.
HOUNGAN:
“I am simply careful about deciding what.”
Silence.
Eljara watched the sea.
ELJARA:
“I’ve seen shamans.”
“I’ve met mystics.”
“I’ve read the accounts of mediums.”
“Different peoples.”
“Different names.”
The houngan nodded.
HOUNGAN:
“Different languages.”
He pointed toward the horizon.
HOUNGAN:
“The sea has many shores.”
“It is still one sea.”
The waves rolled gently onto the beach.
Sean followed them with his eyes.
SEAN:
“So what matters?”
The old priest smiled.
Not with certainty.
With peace.
HOUNGAN:
“Not whether we explain the mystery.”
A pause.
HOUNGAN:
“But whether the mystery changes the way we live.”
The wind carried the distant sound of drums across the water.
No one hurried toward them.
No one hurried away.
Some questions…
did not ask to be solved.
Only remembered.
🜍 WHO HOLDS THE REINS?
Some seek proof.
Others seek meaning.
Perhaps wisdom begins…
when we learn the difference.
If you remember what this felt like—
you already know what you’re missing.
Come sail into a world where history, philosophy and living traditions shape every choice.
