“…Chibi?”
“Yeah.”
Mara watches the street.
Everything works.
Too well.
Doors open.
People move.
No mistakes.
“…it’s right,” she says.
Chibi nods.
“Yeah.”
A pause.
“That’s the problem.”
A man walks past.
Clean.
Certain.
People react.
Space opens.
He doesn’t even look.
“…he’s not trying,” Mara says.
“No.”
“He doesn’t need to.”
Across the street—
a woman stands at a door.
She tries to open it.
Nothing.
She adjusts.
Straightens.
Speaks clearer.
“Excuse me—”
No response.
The door stays closed.
Mara steps forward.
“That’s wrong.”
Chibi doesn’t move.
“No.”
A beat.
“That’s how it works now.”
People pass the woman.
They see her.
But don’t stop.
“…she’s doing it right,” Mara says.
“Yeah.”
“…why doesn’t it work?”
Chibi looks at her.
“Because it didn’t before.”
Silence.
Mara watches her.
“…can she fix it?”
Chibi shakes his head.
“No.”
A pause.
“Not alone.”
Mara looks around.
At the people.
At the flow.
At how nothing breaks anymore.
“…so it just stays like this?”
Chibi nods.
“Yeah.”
A beat.
“Unless everyone changes.”
Mara looks down.
At her step.
She adjusts.
Just a little.
The world responds.
Smoother.
Easier.
Better.
Chibi sees it.
“…you felt that.”
Mara doesn’t answer.
She just watches the street—
and stops resisting.
