it noticed you.
Theta-IV was already coming apart when the Inquisition arrived—
a world thinned by devotion,
its storms falling like broken prayers,
too heavy for its saints to bear.
Iron cathedrals bowed beneath red lightning.
Servo-altars murmured hymns
no sanctioned priest remembered teaching.
The faithful corroded inside their armor,
icons eaten hollow by fear,
hope spent past redemption.
They fled when the psyker sensed it.
Not above.
Not ahead.
Deeper.
Behind the vault.
An ancient war-titan—
once a god of battle,
now something listening.
Corrupted.
Awake.
The retreat was not clean.
They sealed the breach.
They burned what would burn.
Then they ran.
Pain followed them out.
Before the Eye of the Emperor,
they were ordered to cut the corruption from themselves—
memory by memory,
nerve by nerve.
The Emperor answered.
Not gently.
Not completely.
Judgment leaves scars
where mercy might have left faith.
Now the question is no longer what was uncovered beneath Theta-IV—
but what stirred
when it was disturbed.
The ashes have not cooled.
The titan still dreams.
