CAELWYN:
“Rage. Glamour. Vitae. Gnosis. Quintessence. Passion.”

STACY:
“Different names. Different worlds.”

CAELWYN:
“Maybe different explanations.”

STACY:
“But the Triat gives us something older.”

CAELWYN:
“Wyld. Weaver. Wyrm.”

STACY:
“Possibility. Form. Transformation.”

CAELWYN:
“Nothing simply has to remain what it is.”

STACY:
“And Mage gives us another language.”

CAELWYN:
“Prime.”

STACY:
“Something is.”

CAELWYN:
“Entropy.”

STACY:
“What is does not have to remain what it is.”

Caelwyn watches the small blue flame between them.

CAELWYN:
“Then why does everything keep reaching for more?”

STACY:
“That’s the question.”

CAELWYN:
“The vampire wants stronger blood.”

STACY:
“The mage seeks greater understanding.”

CAELWYN:
“The changeling reaches for Glamour.”

STACY:
“The wraith for Transcendence.”

CAELWYN:
“The Garou for deeper connection and greater power.”

STACY:
“Different explanations.”

CAELWYN:
“Same direction.”

A pause.

STACY:
“What if the fire remembers?”

CAELWYN:
“Remembers what?”

STACY:
“A state before all these divisions.”

CAELWYN:
“So we aren’t simply trying to become more.”

STACY:
“Maybe we’re trying to return to something we once were.”

Caelwyn looks at the flame.

CAELWYN:
“Metaphysical homesickness.”

STACY:
“For a home we can’t remember.”

They turn towards us.

CAELWYN:
“Then perhaps the question isn’t what gives you power.”

STACY:
“But why something inside you keeps reaching beyond what you already are.”
