🜍 TRICKSTER — WEEK 2 When the Lie Becomes Protected (WOD)

“…that’s not holding.”

Eljara watches the lobby.

The man in the worn jacket moves freely.

Staff greet him.

People step aside.

No hesitation.

Sean stands still.

“That’s not holding.”

A beat.

“That’s stabilizing.”

Across the room—

the woman in the expensive coat is still at the desk.

“I’ve been here three nights,” she says.

The clerk smiles.

“I’m sorry, ma’am.”

No change.

No doubt.

“They’re not even checking,” Eljara mutters.

“No.”

“They don’t need to.”

Sean steps forward.

Eljara follows.

“She’s with us,” Sean says calmly.

The clerk looks at the woman.

Pauses.

Then:

“No, she isn’t.”

Flat.

Certain.

Eljara narrows her eyes.

“…you sure about that?”

“Yes.”

No hesitation.

She exhales slowly.

“…okay.”

“That’s new.”

Sean nods.

“They’re not interpreting anymore.”

A beat.

“They’re enforcing.”

The woman turns to them.

“Please… I just need my room.”

The clerk doesn’t change.

“I can’t give you access to something that doesn’t exist.”

Silence.

People move around her.

Avoiding.

Like she doesn’t fit.

She steps forward—

into someone’s path.

They move.

Before she reaches them.

Clean.

She stumbles.

No one helps.

Eljara takes a step—

Sean stops her.

“Wait.”

“…what?”

“Watch.”

The woman reaches for the counter.

The clerk steps back.

Distance.

Maintained.

“…they’re minimizing her,” Eljara says.

Sean nods.

“Reducing impact.”

A pause.

“Like an error.”

Eljara looks at him.

“…you’re saying she’s being removed?”

“Yeah.”

“Not physically.”

A beat.

“But functionally.”

The woman looks around.

“Hello?”

No response.

Even her voice feels smaller.

Eljara steps forward.

Grabs the counter.

Hard.

The clerk flinches.

A crack.

“…see?”

Sean watches.

“Yeah.”

A beat.

“But it corrects.”

The clerk straightens.

Expression resets.

“Ma’am, I’m going to have to ask you to step away.”

Security appears.

Already there.

Eljara glances sideways.

“…they were waiting.”

Sean nods.

“Yeah.”

They take the woman’s arm.

“I’m a guest,” she says.

“No, you’re not.”

Flat.

Immediate.

No argument.

They guide her out.

For a moment—

the pattern breaks.

People pause.

Then—

everything realigns.

Flow restored.

The door closes.

Silence.

The man in the worn jacket walks past them.

Untouched.

Eljara exhales slowly.

“…this isn’t about who you are.”

Sean shakes his head.

“No.”

A beat.

“It’s about what the system decided you are.”

He looks at the door.

“And what it refuses to let you be.”

🜍 TRICKSTER — WEEK 2

The lie is not enough.

The system must believe it.

And once it does—

it will defend it
against reality itself.

🜍 One theme. One month. One descent.
🜍 Trickster. Fool. Fracture.
