WHEN PEOPLE KNOW THEIR LINES Delta Green — Mythveil Chronicles Week 3 · Sean & Eljara

“You hear it?”

Eljara doesn’t turn.

“I expect it.”

A voice behind them:

“…that’s not what I meant.”

No pause.

Sean nods slightly.

“That’s clean.”

“Yeah.”

They keep walking.

At the corner, people gather.

One steps forward.

Stops.

Adjusts.

Continues.

Another does the same.

Not together.

Same sequence.

“That should feel wrong,” Sean says.

“It did.”

“And now?”

She watches the crowd.

“Now it fits.”

Silence.

They cross.

A man on the phone passes them.

“…I didn’t say that—”

Pause.

“…that’s not what I meant.”

Eljara exhales slowly.

“That’s placed,” she says.

“Yeah.”

“Not repeated.”

They move on.

More voices.

More movement.

Same structure.

Different people.

“That shouldn’t carry,” Sean says.

“It does.”

“It should break somewhere.”

“It doesn’t.”

A pause.

Eljara watches a group at a café.

One leans forward.

Touches another’s arm.

Same gesture.

Same response.

Different people.

“That’s the same interaction,” she says.

“Yeah.”

“But they’ve never met.”

“Doesn’t matter.”

Silence.

Another voice nearby:

“…that’s not what I meant.”

No hesitation.

No correction.

Just the line.

Eljara watches him disappear into the crowd.

“That’s not a correction anymore,” she says.

“No.”

“It’s just how it goes.”

Sean looks at the flow.

At how easily everything settles.

“They’re not reacting,” he says.

“No.”

“They’re following something.”

She nods slightly.

“They already know where it fits.”

A pause.

“Do they know?” she asks.

Sean shakes his head.

“No.”

“Then how do they stay on it?”

He watches the street.

“They don’t leave it.”

Silence.

People keep moving.

Talking.

Adjusting.

Continuing.

No hesitation.

No friction.

No choice that doesn’t land.

Everything fits.

And that’s why nothing stands out.

Because no one is saying anything new.

They’re just stepping into the place

where it already belongs.
