“They don’t have to.”

“Yes.”

“It was right yesterday.”

“Yes.”

“And today it isn’t.”
Mara:
“Yes.”
Silence.
Chibi:
“That’s not fair.”

“I didn’t do anything wrong.”

“Then why am I out?”

“Because you’re the only one still playing that way.”
Chibi freezes.

“So they changed it.”

“They agreed.”
Silence.

“And I didn’t.”

“Yes.”

“So I lose.”

“Yes.”
Pause.
Chibi:
“Can I get back in?”
Mara:
“No.”

“Why not?”

“You already played.”

“So?”

“It counted.”

“Before.”
Silence.

“That’s cheating.”

“They’re smiling.”

“They think I’m still playing.”

“Do they know I lost?”
Mara:
“No.”

“Then who does?”
