PLAY IT ANYWAY Warhammer 30/40k – Week I
The chamber hasn’t changed.
It doesn’t need to.
Sean plays a note.
It echoes… somewhere else.
Eljara:
You’re testing it again.
Sean:
No.
A beat.
Sean:
I’m done testing.
Silence.
Eljara:
Then what are you doing?
He plays another note.
Sean:
Playing.
That hangs.
Eljara:
That implies rules.
Sean:
No.
A beat.
Sean:
Just rhythm.
She watches him.
Careful now.
Eljara:
You said it couldn’t be controlled.
Sean:
It can’t.
Eljara:
Then why play?
He looks at her.
Calm.
Sean:
Because not playing is still a move.
Silence.
That lands.
Eljara:
So you’re choosing a role.
Sean:
Yeah.
Eljara:
Based on what?
A pause.
Sean:
Preference.
She almost reacts.
Eljara:
That’s not a system.
Sean:
Exactly.
He plays again.
The notes don’t connect.
They don’t need to.
Sean:
This isn’t about survival anymore.
A beat.
Sean:
It’s about how you show up.
Silence.
Eljara:
If there’s no structure—
She stops.
Eljara:
No stable structure—
He nods.
Eljara:
Then identity becomes…
He finishes it.
Sean:
A role you hold.
That hits.
Eljara:
And if you let go?
A final note.
Lingering.
Sean:
Something else picks it up.
Silence.
Eljara:
So you don’t become free.
Sean:
No.
A beat.
Sean:
You become responsible.
She studies him.
Long.
Eljara:
For what?
He answers simply.
Sean:
How you play.
Nothing changes.
Nothing resolves.
But something holds anyway.
Not the world.
Them.
If you remember what this felt like —
you already know what you’re missing.
Step back into it.
Or keep missing it.
